Sony Pictures announced the Madhubala biopic in early 2023, sparking excitement among fans. But nearly two years later, there has been no progress. Madhur, who signed an agreement with Sony in May 2023, has now served the studio a legal notice, demanding clarity on the film’s status.

Madhur is upset over the lack of communication from Sony Pictures. She claims the company has given only vague responses, despite multiple emails from her and her team.
“We are in 2025 now. It’s been close to two years, and I am still waiting for an update on when the film will start,” she says. “I didn’t expect this from a top film company like Sony.”
Frustrated with the delays, Madhur had no choice but to send a legal notice. “I am a senior citizen, and this endless wait is making me very unhappy,” she adds. “I will do whatever it takes to ensure this film is made.”

As Madhubala’s birth anniversary approaches, Madhur is disappointed that her tribute plans have been put on hold due to the biopic’s delay.
“I wanted to install a statue of my sister, support an old-age home, and set up a music school in her memory,” she says. “But this delay has thrown everything off track.”

“It’s upsetting to read such baseless claims,” she says. “I have worked hard all my life in music, dubbing, and advertising. I am also a self-made person.”

Despite the challenges, Madhur remains hopeful. She believes the biopic will be a “true tribute” to her iconic sister and wants to see it completed in her lifetime.
“Madhubala was a superstar, but she was also a simple family girl at heart,” she says. “Her immeasurable beauty made up for everything she may have lacked. I just want this film to be made as soon as possible.”
Madhubala’s fans are also eagerly waiting. Many have asked Madhur for updates, but she has no answers. “People feel cheated because I promised them a film, but nothing has happened yet,” she admits.
Madhur remains determined to get the project back on track. “I, along with my partners, will do everything possible to make this film a reality,” she says.
