Kalki 2898 AD: The New Star of Indian Cinema

Introduction to a New Era in Indian Movies

In Indian cinema, Bollywood, Tollywood, and Kollywood have all seen their share of big hits. However, very few films have managed to be successful across North, South, East, and West India without any language barriers. One such film was “Baahubali,” which made a huge impact across the country. While many good films followed, none could reach the level of “Baahubali.” It is often said that only Prabhas can break his own records.

Almost 10 years after “Baahubali,” Prabhas is back with another film that’s breaking records all over India. This film, “Kalki 2898 AD,” is getting an incredible response from the public, with people going crazy as soon as the bookings opened. When SS Rajamouli’s film “RRR” made over 200 crore on its first day worldwide, many thought that record would never be broken. However, it seems that “RRR” might not be safe anymore, as “Kalki 2898 AD” is setting new records with Prabhas in the lead.

The Phenomenon of “Kalki 2898 AD”

“Kalki 2898 AD” is more than just a movie; it’s a cultural event. The excitement surrounding this film is similar to the days before the release of “Baahubali 2.” The scale, star power, and magnitude of this project have created a buzz across the nation. But how many tickets have been sold for “Kalki 2898 AD” so far, and what’s the current status? Is the situation good or bad? What could be the day-one collection?

Understanding the Business of “Kalki 2898 AD”

Before diving into these details, it’s important to understand the business side of the film. “Kalki” is being called the most expensive Indian film with a budget close to 600 crore. To break even, it needs to make significant box office earnings.

The pre-release business of “Kalki” in the Telugu region is 180 crore, and it needs to collect 270 crore to break even there. In the Hindi region, the pre-release business is 85 crore, and it needs at least 170 crore in lifetime collections to be a superhit. Worldwide, combining theatrical rights, music, and other deals, “Kalki 2898 AD” has done pre-release business of 380 crore. This means the film has already made 380 crore before its release, but to be a superhit, it needs another 700 crore, making the total target 1000 crore.

Advance Bookings and Day-One Collections

Now, let’s talk about ticket bookings and day-one collections. There’s good news for Prabhas fans—the response has been amazing. As soon as advance booking opened, “Kalki” sold 69,000 tickets on BookMyShow within an hour, and this was just in the South region, with North bookings yet to open. This is similar to “Baahubali 2,” where the Telugu region’s numbers were very high.In the Kannada region, known for films like “KGF” and “Kantara,””Kalki” sold 35,000 tickets in advance on the first day. In the North, bookings are partially open, and “Kalki” has sold between 35,000 to 40,000 tickets in national chains.

Predicting Day-One Collections

Predicting the day-one collection for “Kalki 2898 AD” worldwide, the North could easily reach 20-25 crore, and with good reviews, it might cross 30 crore. In the Telugu region, Prabhas could justify his title of the “Dinosaur” of the box office, potentially making 80 crore, and in the best case, even 100 crore. In other regions like Tamil, Kannada, and Kerala, the film could make around 15 crore.

As of now, two days before its release, advance booking in India has crossed 28 crore and 37 crore overseas, totaling 65 crore. Hence, the day-one collection in Indian markets is expected to be between 120-140 crore, with a possibility of higher figures.

Global Reception and Comparisons with “RRR”

The worldwide business of “RRR” on its first day was 223 crore, which “Kalki” might cross. However, predicting exact figures is tough as there is no official website tracking foreign business accurately. Based on the current response, “Kalki” could definitely cross 200 crore on day one, though surpassing “RRR” remains uncertain. The ticket prices for “Kalki,” especially for the 3D version, are quite high, which could help it break records. There are even talks of increasing the number of shows across North and South India due to high demand.

The Future of Indian Cinema with “Kalki 2898 AD”

After the releases of “Animal,” “Salaar,” and “Dunki,” the Indian audience is eager for real cinema, and “Kalki” might just deliver that, potentially starting a new era of box office records with Prabhas at the forefront. Mark your calendars for June 27, as this will not just be the comeback of Baahubali, but also the beginning of a new box office chapter.
