A few months ago, I was going through a rough phase. Work stress was piling up, personal issues were draining me, and I felt constantly exhausted. No matter what I did, my mind kept racing with negative thoughts.
I found myself overanalyzing every conversation—Did I say something wrong? What if they misunderstood me? Even small issues felt overwhelming. I couldn’t sleep properly, I lost motivation, and I became irritable.
Despite being someone who always tried to stay positive, I couldn’t control my thoughts. My mind exaggerated situations, turning small issues into big problems.
The Invisible Shield of Meditation
When we meditate or follow a spiritual practice, we create an invisible shield around us. This shield protects us from negativity. The moment we stop, negativity starts affecting us.
Many believe in the “evil eye,” but in reality, it’s the absence of our protective shield. When I stopped meditating, every little thing affected me. I took words personally, reacted emotionally, and felt stuck.
Why “Think Positive” Doesn’t Work
When your mind is in overdrive, being told to “just think positive” won’t help. Imagine you’re lying in bed, overwhelmed by negative thoughts—What if my life falls apart? What if everything goes wrong?
In this state, your mind is far below a neutral mindset. Jumping straight to positive thinking feels impossible. Instead, the first step is to relax and bring your mind back to neutral.
You Can’t Solve a Mind Problem with the Mind
Overthinking isn’t something you do—it happens to you. The solution? Go beyond the mind.
Simple Steps to Calm Overthinking
- Vipassana Meditation – This technique helps you observe thoughts without attachment.
- Om Chanting – Playing the continuous sound of “Om” externally helps calm your racing mind.
- Guided Meditation – Use external sounds or guidance to shift focus away from negative thoughts.
Meditation Slows Down the Mind
Think of meditation like a speed breaker on the road. Cars (thoughts) still move, but at a controlled pace.
After meditating for 40 minutes, I gained clarity: Life isn’t as bad as our minds make it seem.
Your Mind Creates Illusions
Imagine looking at the sky. You see dark clouds and assume the entire sky is gloomy. But if you rise above the clouds, you’ll see a bright, clear sky.
The same happens with our minds. When overthinking, problems seem worse than they really are. But stepping back gives a clearer perspective.
Meditation Doesn’t Change Life—It Clears Your Vision
Overthinking can make everything feel wrong. But when you meditate, you realize:
✔ No one is against you.
✔ Situations aren’t as bad as they seem.
✔ Most of your worries are just illusions.
True Change Happens Beyond the Mind
