Struggles Before Fame
Before making a name for himself, Sudesh Lehri faced extreme hardships. In a recent interview with Archana Puran Singh, he spoke about his struggles growing up in poverty.
“I have done a lot of hard work when I was young. I have worked in small shops, made tea, worked in factories, made footwear, and even sold vegetables,” he said. Sudesh also shared how financial difficulties forced him to lie to money lenders when he couldn’t repay loans. He believes these experiences shaped his acting skills, preparing him for a career in comedy.
Bankruptcy and Turning Point
Even after starting his career, Sudesh continued to struggle. He revealed that at one point, he became bankrupt, and his house was sold. “Everybody laughed at me. But when Archana Puran Singh laughed at me on Comedy Circus, I made many houses,” he joked, referring to his successful stint on the show, where Archana was a judge.
Humiliating Experience in Paris
Recalling a painful incident, Sudesh shared how he was physically assaulted while performing in Paris. “I was singing, and everything was going well until a drunk man came on stage, held my collar, and slapped me hard. My mic fell. It was very humiliating. I wanted to cry, but my tears wouldn’t come out,” he said.
This incident deeply affected him, leading him to quit performing at weddings. He told his wife that he would never accept such shows again.
A Career Spanning Two Decades
Despite his struggles, Sudesh Lehri has built a successful career over the past 20 years. He has appeared in Bollywood films like Ready, No Problem, and Great Grand Masti. Today, he is recognized as one of India’s finest comedians, known for his ability to connect with audiences effortlessly.
Currently, Sudesh Lehri is a part of Laughter Chef Season 2 on Colors TV, where he continues to entertain fans with his wit and humor. His journey is a true inspiration, proving that perseverance and talent can overcome any challenge.
