60th floor in president’s room | Chapter 2

“What?” Hannah was surprised to hear this. Everything was completely normal in the company just two days ago, how can this happen suddenly? 

Within a short time, there was silence in the department, Mr. Graphin, Chief of the finance department came out of his cabin and announced, “new management has come to take over the company, everyone go to their respective seats, in a while our department will be inspected.”

Then he looked at Hannah and said, “As long as the inspection goes on, you’ll be accompanied me the whole time.”

“Okay.” Hannah nodded.

“They are here.” Someone shouted. Everyone turned their gaze towards the entrance.

A team of five people entered the department. The team was led by an extreme handsome man, he was six feet tall, with sharp features, his dark brown eyes were so cold that a shiver ran through the spine of the beholders. 

“Good morning, Mr. Rust.” Mr. Graphin greeted, leaning forward.

Mr. Rest nodded slightly in response. Then his eyes turned around as if he was checking everyone. After wandering around, his eyes fixed on Hannah. 

Finding his gaze somehow weird, Hannah subconsciously hid behind Mr. Graphin. After noticing Hannah’s action, Mr. Graphin immediately withdrew himself to one side. Hannah suddenly exposed to Rust. 

“Mr. Rust this is Miss Hannah Morphis, she is the Assistant General Manager here in the finance department.” Mr. Graphin praised Hannah whole heartedly. 

“Good Morning sir.” Hannah greeted in a professional tone while extending her hand for a hand shake. Though she didn’t like his gaze but it didn’t mean that she was lack of confidence. It took her only a few minutes to regain her professional composure. 

“Miss Morphis, nice to meet you.” Andrew Rust shook his hand with her and immediately turned back to meet the rest of the staff in the finance department. Mr. graphin gave a brief introduction of each of the staff member present there. After taking a quick round of the department and asking a few nominal questions, Andrew Rust returned to his office. When he went back everyone heaved a sigh of relief. 

“Hey, Wasn’t it Imperial Group CEO Andrew Rust?” Suddenly someone shouted.

“Yes it was indeed him.” Another person confirmed. 

“This means that our company has been taken over by the Imperial Group.” Someone again calculated.

“Imperial Group is a big group and most of all they never fire their employees unless there be some extreme loyalty related issues.”

Someone commented from behind.

“It’s great now our small company has a support of Imperial Group”. Another person shouted with excitement. 

After a while everyone got busy with their own work. Hannah also sat on her seat and started completing her unfinished work. 

Since there has been a change in the management of the company, first of all the audit of the finance department will be done. 

Hannah didn’t want to leave any negative impressions on the new boss, so she wanted to get all her work done today.

60th floor in president’s room

“Boss it’s the same girl. We have checked all its information. It’s indeed her.” Bob Periston, Andrew Rust’s personal assistant, spoke.

“Finally we found her. Call her, I want to talk to her., she’ll become my bargaining chip in dealing with Chief of special forces.” Andrew Rust said in a very serious voice.

“Miss Morphis, the President wants to talk to you about something. Please come to the 60th floor.” As Hannah picked up the intercom, a grim voice came from the other side.

“Ok.” Saying that Hannah hung up the call, thinking about the reason, calling by the president himself, he must want to get the financial report of the company, she picked up the current finance report and went to meet the boss.

“Sir, Miss Morphis from the finance department is here.” A secretary informed Andrew Rust through intercom. 

“Let her in.” He ordered.

Soon a knock was sounded on the frosted glass door and as soon as Andrew lifted his head from the desktop, he found a model like woman coming towards him.

“Good morning again sir, you asked me come over here.” Hanna greeted in a professional tone. 

“Sit down.” He said flatly.

“Miss Morphys, how long have you been working here?” He asked in a professional tone.

Hannah was not seeing the sharpness in his eyes at this time, which was there doing the inspection a while ago. At this time his eyes were calm and not at all probing. 

“Sir it’s been four years, I had joined this company as an intern.” She replied, promptly.  

“And in just 4 years you have become an AGM. Isn’t it a bit strange?” He asked in a sarcastic tone. 

“Sir, if you have seen my profile then you will surely know that in these 4 years only due to my hard work the company has benefited in millions.” Although she was irritated but replied in a righteous tone. 

“Oh if so, then I would like to give Miss Morphis a responsible post in the new management. This post will be more challenging than your previous post. I hope that Miss Morphis will fulfill this responsibility with utmost sincerity and dedication.” He revealed his purpose of calling her to his office. 

Hannah found it a bit awkward but she couldn’t do anything without knowing about it. she sat quietly waiting for his next statement. 

“Miss Morphis as you know that this company has been taken over by Imperial Group, so now this company and its employees, both belong to the Imperial Group. As you have just stated that you are very good in negotiation and well experienced in cracking deals, I am promoting you as General Manager of procurement department of Imperial group and your first task will be to assist me negotiate with the Defense ministry regarding the tender of fighter jets.” Saying this he handed over her a USB stick and said, “Examine the data carefully and plan your strategy accordingly, you’ll have a free hand for this project.

This deal is most important for our company. You only have fifteen days to present your report before me. Due to confidentiality, we shall not involve anyone else directly.

We only have this month for the preparation, the last date for submission of tender is 15^th of next month.

You may leave now.” Saying this Andrew Rust gestured her to go out. 

Hannah got up and left the office but as soon as she approached the gate Andrew shouted, “I have arranged an office on this floor for you, ask my assistant about the room.” 

“Ok Sir.” Hannah was shocked and confused, she didn’t know why such a huge responsibility was given to her? It was somehow unconvincing. But she couldn’t ask any question right now so she obediently left the president’s office.
